SAP S/4HANA logistics

Logistics is where SAP programmes are won or lost.

A specialist practice for the logistics core of S/4HANA — procurement, inventory, execution, replenishment — and for the AI layer now being built on top of it. Fifteen years of hands-on delivery, in retail and downstream oil & gas.

Why a specialist

Large integrators can staff anything. What they struggle to guarantee is that the person who scoped your solution is the person who configures it. That is the whole proposition here.

Senior only

No pyramid, no junior bench to keep utilised. The person in your design workshop is the person in the system.

Narrow by design

We turn down work outside SAP logistics. Depth in four areas is worth more to you than shallow coverage of forty.

Standard first

Custom code is a liability you carry to every upgrade. We exhaust the standard before extending, and extend on BTP when we do.

Independent

No licences to resell and no delivery model to protect, so the recommendation is only ever about the outcome.

Services

Engagements run from a few weeks of architecture work to full delivery ownership. We are equally happy leading a workstream inside a larger programme.

Solution architecture

Scoping and end-to-end design for logistics landscapes, including group templates intended for rollout across multiple countries and operating models.

Greenfield implementation

New S/4HANA builds from process design through workshops, configuration, testing and go-live, with integration into the surrounding SAP and third-party estate.

Conversion and upgrade

ECC to S/4HANA system conversion and release upgrades, including the process redesign a conversion tends to force rather than allow.

Multi-country rollout

Template deployment across geographies and store estates, absorbing local requirements without eroding the template.

Design authority and QA

Independent implementation reviews on behalf of end customers, on programmes being delivered by system integrators and partners.

Post go-live support

Hypercare and incident management for live logistics processes, where the cost of a stalled interface is measured in empty shelves.

Where we go deep

Four areas we know at configuration level, not slide level.

MM

Sourcing and Procurement

Procure to pay, inventory management, material valuation, vendor rebates and condition contract management, and the integration points into finance.

LE

Logistics Execution

Inbound and outbound logistics, delivery processing, shipping and goods movement, with integration into warehouse and transportation management.

IS-RETAIL

Retail

Retail master data, assortments, forecast and replenishment, store and DC replenishment, store operations and POS integration.

IS-OIL

Oil & Gas

Hydrocarbon product management, bulk logistics, F&A pricing and downstream distribution, including integration with oil terminal systems.

Where we are going

Focus area

Logistics is the best place in the enterprise to put AI to work.

It has the highest transaction volume, the most repetitive decisions and the clearest feedback loop — a replenishment call is right or wrong within days. But the value only lands if someone understands both the model and the master data underneath it. That intersection is where this practice is being built.

  • Demand and replenishment

Applying forecasting and ML-driven planning where rule-based replenishment has hit its ceiling, grounded in real F&R and CAR UDF deployments.

  • Embedded and agentic assistance

Joule and custom assistive applications inside logistics processes, built on BTP so the core stays clean.

  • Process intelligence

Using process mining to find where automation actually pays, before anyone commits budget to a model.

  • Data readiness

Most failed AI pilots in ERP are master data problems wearing a different hat. We treat that as the first workstream, not the last.

Selected work

Client names withheld. Happy to talk through any of these in detail.

Greenfield · Template

Group template and S/4HANA 2022 build, oil & gas and retail

Team lead and solution architect on a greenfield implementation covering procure to pay, inventory management, F&A pricing and hydrocarbon management. Integration with EWM, Ariba, MDG, PP, QM, PM/PS, transportation management, retail POS and third-party terminal systems, with custom applications on BTP. Led 5 consultants and 4 developers.

Rollout

Automated store replenishment, international food retail

Designed and rolled out an automated replenishment solution across 500 stores in 10 countries using SAP Retail Rapid Replenishment and CAR UDF, as part of an S/4HANA Retail template deployed over four geographic regions.

Rollout

Forecast and replenishment, grocery retail group

Analysis through post go-live support for SAP F&R across 1,500 stores in 3 countries, covering multi-echelon DC replenishment, direct store delivery and transportation load optimisation, integrated with ECC, CAR and BW.

Conversion

ECC to S/4HANA conversion, retail on HANA

IS-Retail team lead from blueprint and gap analysis to go-live, spanning retail master data, inventory management, inbound logistics, procurement, material valuation and store and DC replenishment, with POS, WMS and store back-office integration.

Implementation

Central Procurement hub

Best-practice design of an S/4HANA Central Procurement solution connecting multiple ECC and S/4HANA backends for central purchasing, requisitioning and contracts, with a flexible approval workflow.

Advisory

Design authority, partner-led retail programmes

QA implementation reviews conducted on behalf of end customers on S/4HANA Retail projects delivered by implementation partners.
